Ice is (still) nice
Admittedly, most of us are ready to relinquish winter and move swiftly along to warmer outdoor adventure. But seasonal pleasures such as ice skating, ice fishing or simply wandering across the surface of a frozen lake are still possible, and wont come again for many months once we venture across the threshold of Spring Equinox on March 20.
Some local youth recently chose to spend a frosty day gliding around the rock-hard surface of Little Lake Erie behind The River Reporter office on Erie Avenue in Narrowsburg, NY. Mary Rose Krzemieniecki and Will Falk fended off the chill with their toasty campfire built atop the ice, as they kept a watchful eye on the skaters. From left were Michelle Krzemieniecki, Shiann Potter, Katie Fuchs and Danielle Case. The girls were right in line, as winter activities on the small lake are restricted to ice skating.
Meanwhile, ice fishermen drilled holes and dropped their lines at Shohola Lake in Shohola, PA.
